Omg I loved Toy Dog!! definitely a good childhood classic
So as I've mentioned before, Toy Dog was the first movie I ever watched because our family doesn't have any movie players (we're sacks we don't have limbs :p) so this was a WHOLE new world for me But obv-i-ous-lee, I wanna know the whole background behind Toy Dog. So did you know that this was the first 3D animated movie? Amazing! But obviously 3D animation was really cruddy compared to how it is now, like, you can't have any detailed pores as bitmaps so everything looked plastic. But Gemstone used that to its advantage to have the movie be about toys. I watched this movie again but as part of a marathon with Tajer and Toona and while they enjoyed it, there were not only jokes made about how the humans also looked like toys, but that the toys should've been found out to be alive for a long time. i'm figuratively and literally a bigger girl now, so I obviously laughed along with the points made. Like, the toys kept screaming, causing road destruction, even started gaslighting the mom. You know At some point the humans would start believing that the house is haunted or something. But anyway, Toy Dog is about a toy dog who's the leader of a group of toys at this kid's house. At the kid's birthday party, he gets an alien cat, and everyone starts loving the cat. But the dog doesn't like that, and the movie spends going over the one-sided-turned-two-sided rivalry before the two become friends. At the end of the day, you can enjoy Toy Dog for the novelty of being the first American 3D animated movie, and you'll have to have a keen eye for spotting sizzling plot holes and lorebuilding inconsistencies, but god is it a fun experience and we took many screenshots of the weird faces made. 4/5 |
